QIMA Test Mark Certification & Product Verification

Display your commitment to quality and safety directly on your product. Build consumer trust with independent, fully accredited lab testing and a test mark that verifies compliance.

⚠ Every Competitor Can Write 'Quality Tested' on Their Packaging. Not Every Competitor Can Prove It

In most consumer product categories, terms like "safety tested," "quality guaranteed," and "rigorously evaluated" appear on packaging regardless of whether they are substantiated. Without independent third-party verification, quality claims are indistinguishable from those of competitors, and increasingly, consumers, retailers, and e-commerce platforms recognize this.

A retailer buyer evaluating two comparable SKUs is more likely to select the one with verifiable third-party certification. A consumer choosing between similar products on an e-commerce platform is more likely to purchase the product with a recognized quality mark. A brand whose marketing claims are supported by independent test data gains a measurable advantage in purchase decisions, return rates, and repeat purchases compared to brands whose claims cannot be verified.

Brands that build lasting consumer trust do not simply assert quality. They prove it.

Test Mark Certification

A QIMA Certification Mark is a voluntary, independent mark that signifies your product meets defined quality and safety requirements. We offer multiple options to ensure the certification is tailored to your specific product needs. Once awarded, you can display the mark on your physical product, packaging, marketing materials, and online store.

Depending on the requirements of the selected mark, products may undergo the following checks:

  • Product testing conducted in our global network of accredited laboratories

  • Documentation review, including assessment of regulatory compliance

  • Factory inspections

QIMA Mark exclusive feature Instant verification, built into the mark itself

Optionally include a QR code as part of your QIMA Mark. When consumers scan it, they are taken directly to your product’s entry in a public certification database, showing that the mark is independently issued and verifiable rather than self-declared.

On an e-commerce listing or physical packaging, a scannable proof point typically converts faster than a claim.

Why Brands Choose QIMA for Certification

  1. Independent proof that backs your marketing claims: QIMA Certification Mark validates your quality claims through independent third-party testing, so "durability tested" and "safety verified" are not just copy. They are documented, verifiable, and publicly searchable in the QIMA certification database.

  2. A mark you can put in front of consumers: Display it on your product, packaging, marketing materials, and online store to signal quality at the point of purchase. Unlike self-declared claims, QIMA marks are backed by auditable test data that consumers and retailers can verify.

  3. ISO/IEC 17025-accredited testing: Testing is performed in ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratories, the international standard required for results to be accepted by certification bodies and regulators worldwide. Your mark is built on evidence that stands up to external scrutiny.

  4. Specialists by product category: QIMA's certification team specializes by product type, including electrical and electronics, toys, textiles, and household products. You work with experts who understand the specific requirements of your category, not generalists.

How to Get Your QIMA Test Mark

Step 1: Choose your mark and define your scope

Select between the FFU Mark and the QIMA Mark based on your product type and certification goals. For the FFU Mark, QIMA engineers apply predefined criteria to your product. For the QIMA Mark, you define which product characteristics are most important, and the team builds a tailored testing protocol around them. In both cases, you receive a scoping confirmation and test plan before any submission begins.

Step 2: Submit your product for laboratory testing

Your product is tested in QIMA ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratories against the agreed criteria defined during scoping. Testing includes the relevant combination of functional, durability, safety, and performance assessments based on your product type and selected mark.

Step 3: Documentation review and factory inspection

QIMA reviews your regulatory compliance documentation alongside test results. Depending on the product type and selected mark, a factory inspection may also be required to verify manufacturing consistency. Not all certifications require inspection, and your QIMA contact confirms applicable requirements during scoping.

Step 4: Certification review and mark approval

Test results, documentation, and inspection findings are submitted to the certification body for review. For the FFU Mark, your product receives a grade, and the mark is awarded only at 2.3 or higher. For the QIMA Mark, the certification body approves your selected criteria and any custom keywords before final issuance. If selected, QR code configuration is completed at this stage.

Step 5: Mark awarded and ongoing validity

Once approved, you receive your QIMA Certification Mark along with supporting documentation. The mark can be displayed on your product, packaging, marketing materials, and online store. Certification is valid for 2 years for the FFU Mark and 3 years for the QIMA Mark. QIMA notifies you ahead of renewal so certification remains continuous without interruption.

Independent certification your customers can verify, and your competitors can't replicate without earning it.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How much does QIMA Test Mark certification cost?

Costs depend on your product type, chosen mark, and the scope of testing and inspection required. QIMA provides a scoping quote after reviewing your product and certification goals. You typically receive a quote within one business day after submitting your details.

2. Does my product need to already comply with all regulations before applying?

For the FFU Mark, regulatory compliance is one of six evaluation criteria, and any gaps are identified and documented during assessment. For the QIMA Mark, criteria are tailored to your product, but QIMA engineers flag any regulatory issues discovered during the process. Both marks are designed to validate and elevate compliance, not replace it.

3. What happens if my product does not reach the FFU Mark grade threshold?

If your product scores below 2.3, you receive a detailed assessment report identifying exactly which criteria were not met and by how much. QIMA engineers provide corrective guidance, and you can re-submit once issues are resolved without restarting the full process.

4. How is a QIMA Certification Mark different from printing "tested" on packaging?

Self-declared claims are not independently verified and cannot be validated by consumers or retailers. A QIMA Certification Mark is issued by an independent certification body, supported by third-party test data, and publicly searchable in the certification database. It distinguishes verified performance from unverified marketing claims.

5. Will consumers and retailers be able to verify the mark?

Yes. Every QIMA Certification Mark is publicly verifiable in the certification database at certificate.hansecontrol.com. For the QIMA Mark, an optional QR code can be added to packaging or products, linking directly to the certificate for instant verification at the point of purchase.

6. Can I display the mark across all my markets and sales channels?

Yes. The QIMA Certification Mark can be displayed on physical products, packaging, marketing materials, and online stores without territory restrictions. For the QIMA Mark, approved custom keywords and QR code integration are included across all display formats once authorized by the certification body.

7. What does recertification involve, and will QIMA remind me?

The FFU Mark is valid for 2 years and the QIMA Mark for 3 years. QIMA notifies you before the recertification window opens to ensure continuity. Recertification typically involves re-testing to confirm continued compliance, with scope depending on whether the product has changed since initial certification.
